Welcome to the land of IASK

Founded in 1987

You have just landed in IASK land!

IASK stands for “International Association of Specialized Kinesiologists”. It was founded in 1987 and it brings together practitioners of all forms of Kinesiology from the whole world.

As a group of IASK members wrote at the General Meeting in 2000 in Holland :
“The abundance of knowledge and experience worldwide can, through sharing, become an invaluable source of productivity and creative growth. The members of IASK support, inspire and enrich each other in their own personal development and professional work. ”

These two definitions might help (although experiencing a kinesiology session is a must to really ‘know’ what this means !) :

Specialized Kinesiology is “the art of assessing the energetic systems of a person by using precision muscle testing as a biofeedback mechanism. Using the same feedback, a Specialized Kinesiologist identifies appropriate protocoles for promoting, restoring and maintaining balance within these energetic systems”.

A Specialized Kinesiologist
is “a registered member of IASK using specialized kinesiological methods and an educational model to improve his/her clients’ awareness and willingness to foster their own well-being”.

Welcoming words from the President

Since the Annual General Meeting of IASK at Dammarie-les-Lys near Paris , France , I have had the honour of being the new IASK President.

I wish everybody who clicks into the IASK website a warm welcome.. Maybe you are already a member of our international association, which is a

FORUM  For All Nationalities And All Modalities,

or may be you are considering becoming a member. If that is the case I will highly recommend that you sign up as either an ordinary member, a supporting member or as an associate member. Associate members are either national Kinesiology organizations or Kinesiology schools. To make it easy for you, we have a page telling about “What you need to become an IASK member” and you can find the “Membership Form” and the IASK Code of Ethics on another page.

At the AGM in France we said “Goodbye, Farewell and Thank you” to Kathie Guhl from the US and Birgit Nielsen from Denmark . They want to spend more energy and time in their national organizations and with their own clinic / office. They have both done a very good job for IASK through their membership of the Board, and we will miss them at the board meetings to come. Fortunately Birgit has offered to continue as our Webmaster together with her husband, Bent.

Three new board members were nominated and elected:

          -         Alain Vignogna, from Switzerland (our new Treasurer)

          -         Ann McFerron, from USA (our new Secretary)

          -         Muna Ghareeb Ali, from Kuwait (Board Member)

Two members were re-nominated and re-elected:

      -    Nicolette Peyre from Belgium

      -    Veronica A. P. Affonso from Brazil , who was also chosen to be vice President.

This means that the IASK board now consists of the above-mentioned persons plus:

      -    Birgitta Birath from Sweden

      -    Diego Vellam from Italy

      -    Sylviane Vrillonneau from France and me

      -    Annemarie Goldschmidt from Denmark , now your new President.

As you can see, we cover 9 nationalities and among us as least as many languages.

The official language of IASK is still English, and we will continue to have our newsletter translated into as many languages as possible. Translations take time, though, so please, be a little patient if you cannot find the news in your language today. They will soon be available.

The Newsletter is YOUR newsletter, if you are a member, so please help all of us including yourself to make it a “living” newsletter by sending information and news from your country, so the newsletter can be a means for sharing news from and about workshops, best ideas and research.

The good news from the Board is that …

in 2009, IASK will be one of the hosts of the World Wide Conference

I have had meetings with the EnKA president Marge Bowen and the TFH president Bonnie Espstein, when we were together in Salt Lake City in June, and both presidents and both organizations were very willing to support the idea. Ann McFerron has been a very good help in approaching the two organizations and presidents.

The IASK Conferences in 2003, 2005 and now 2007 took place in Europe, which means that the most natural decision will be to have the 2009 conference outside Europe . As IASK was first founded in the USA , it gives a support to what seems “natural”, so…

The 2009 IASK Conference will take place in the USA .

And IASK, ENKA and TFH will work together to do a Great Conference.

You will get more news about the exact dates, place etc. in the near future, so please stay in touch by looking at the website in the weeks and months to come.

On behalf of the IASK Board I wish all of you a happy and prosperous future.

Annemarie Goldschmidt

IASK - President
